ICT in USA Agriculture
I always enjoy your newsletter. Sorry I haven't contributed more… I know you had been publishing some data by countries on the use of computers on farms. I can't remember though if the USA data from the 2002 Census of Agriculture was given. Computer data is embedded in the very long document available from:
http://www.nass.usda.gov/census/
Much data on all aspects of agriculture is given. What's useful, will depend upon the user. I thought maybe the categories of "Computer for farm business" and "Internet access" by farm size might be useful. Here is some national (remember there will be huge variation within our large country) percentages I calculated from the data in Table 55:

(1 acre = 0.405 hectare)

An approximate interpretation is that in 2002 between 1/3 and 1/2 of the farmers below 500 acres (200 hectares) used computers and the internet. Above 500 acres (200 hectares) it ranges from 1/2 to 2/3. I'm sure others have more detailed interpretations…

Doggy story!
A little girl asked her mom, "Mom, may I take the dog for a walk around the block?
Mom replies, "No, because she is in heat."
"What's that mean?" asked the child.
"Go ask your father. I think he's in the garage."
The little girl goes to the garage and says, "Dad, may I take Belle for a walk around the block? I asked Mom, but she said the dog was in heat, and to come to you."
Dad said, "Bring the Belle over here."
He took a rag, soaked it with gasoline, and scrubbed the dog's backside with it and said, "Okay, you can go now, but keep Belle on the leash and only go one time around the block."
The little girl left, and returned a few minutes later with no dog on the leash.
Surprised, Dad asked, "Where's Belle?"
The little girl said, "She ran out of gas about halfway down the block, so another dog is pushing her home."
