EDI for Brazilian Agriculture
I don’t know of any use of data dictionaries or xml based data exchange,
here in Brazil. May there is something on EDI, but I’m not sure.
May I ask you if you are working on any kind of project about that? This is
something that interests me very much and I intend to work on it.
I would like to make a survey about that with the help of SBIAgro, the Brazilian
Agri-IT association, whose presidency I’ll inaugurate next month, for the period
2004-2006. Maybe we could exchange some ideas on that.

EDI in Agriculture / an ISO task force
Fields for crops have a legally based reference number in Belgium, sometimes
linked to GIS information. An ISO task force has been started to develop a standard
for a dictionary. The leader is Mr. C. PAULSEN (Paulsen(a)lkv-wl.de).

No EDI in British Agricultural
In the UK most of the crop husbandry software programmes have optional modules
with the ability to handle variable application plans, variable application
results and yield mapping. The information is available to the farmer but the
link between this information and traceability protocols has not been made.
I sincerely hope that it never does!

Another joke for our Irish friends
After a Beer Festival in London, all the brewery presidents decided to go
out for a drink.
Corona's president sits down and says, "Señor, I would like the world's
best beer, a Corona." The bartender takes a bottle from the shelf and gives
it to him.
Then Budweiser's president says, "I'd like the best beer in the world,
give me 'The King Of Beers', a Budweiser." The bartender gives him one.
Coors' president says, "I'd like the best beer in the world, the only one
made with Rocky Mountain spring water, give me a Coors." He gets it.
The guy from Guinness sits down and says, "Give me a Coke." The other
brewery presidents look over at him and ask, "Why aren't you drinking a
Guinness?" and the Guinness president replies, "Well, if you guys
aren't drinking beer, neither will I."
