We cordially invite you to take part in the Nordic Meeting on Agricultural Occupational Health (NMAOH) in Denmark in September 2008. The meeting will take place in Aarhus from 1 to 3 September 2008.

Who should attend? Everyone who works with occupational health in agriculture.
For instance occupational health professionals, scientists, agricultural schools, authorities, farmers organizations, workers organizations, media and insurance companies. All of the above are invited to give oral presentations or poster presentations on different themes covering occupational health in agriculture. The official language of the meeting will be English.

There are four main themes:
- Accidents and the prevention of accidents – always relevant in agriculture and this year closen as an EU priority
- Psychological working environment – farmers are under more pressure than ever – this the is another EU priority
- Noise – everyone loves the growl of a tractor engine – or? Hearing damage is a serious problem in all lines of business
- Muscolo-skeletal disorders – a major couse of disability and sick leave. Heavy lifting, unhealthy working postures etc. How can we reduce this problem in agriculture?

And two open themes:
- Implementation of working invironment management – working environment management as change management?
- Allergies and respiratory tracts – dust, chemicals, animals – farmers get allergies too.

European pupils and students seem ready to acquire knowledge on Organic Agriculture
The first results of Organic.Edunet research in schools and universities are optimistic: European pupils and students seem ready to acquire knowledge on Organic Agriculture and Agri-Ecology

The Organic.Edunet online questionnaire (http://www.organic-edunet.eu/organic/resources/show.html?id=5) was promoted since the beginning of March 2008 to as many academics, teachers, students and other individuals involved with OA and AE as possible. Available in more than one language to facilitate users (6 languages for academics and 8 languages for school teachers), this survey offered an excellent opportunity to capture the diversity of their viewpoints as well as pinpoint their main constraints and opportunities on OA and AE. In addition to (complementary to) the Internet-based questionnaire, a corresponding hard copy version was available to interested parties and were later inserted to the system by agents of the project participant partners.

Until today, almost 1,400 participants from all around Europe voluntarily logged on to the website to contribute their professional experience and valuable ideas! Some initial, interesting findings came already out.
Initially, many primary, secondary and upper secondary school teachers would like to incorporate material about OA/AE (almost 72% percent in primary education, 89% in secondary education and 95% in upper secondary education).

Moreover, it is evident that the number of pupils interested in OA/AE, according to their teachers, is significantly larger than the number of pupils who currently know about OA/AE-an encouraging seventy percent shows interest. This is a clear sign that the need and will to learn more about OA/AE is present, therefore creating more material and better conditions in classrooms to help learn more about OA/AE, is decisive.
