Now that one was a good one, my wife is from Louisiana and I can relate
to this actually happening. Keep up the good work.

Wheel & Water - A Universal Wellbeing Project (from ICT Update)
Throughout most of sub-Saharan Africa, rural women spend an inordinate amount
of time and energy, every day, fetching and carrying water and firewood. While
there is little possibility of providing piped water and electricity to most
rural communities in the near future, basic Human and Animal Powered Vehicles
(HAPV) could make this task far quicker and easier.

Sun powered pay phones
Remkor, a South African manufacturer, in partnership with Uganda´s MTN Publicom,
has designed a pay-phone unit that operates on solar energy. For the first time,
rural areas of Africa will have access to GSM and wireless telephone, irrespective
of the location. Designed to withstand the harsh African climate, the unit is
constructed almost entirely of stainless steel manufactured by Columbus of South
Africa. Solar panels make up the roof and are set at angles of 10, 20 and 30
degrees to take advantage of the angle of the sun in a particular region, ensuring
optimum effectiveness of the solar unit.

Africa Cell Phone Provider Turns to Wind and Solar (from ICT Update)
Currently, remote cell sites across Africa are typically powered by diesel generators
with lead acid batteries providing back-up power should the diesel generators
fail. With increasing costs of diesel fuel, concerns over diesel emissions and
high maintenance requirements of the diesel generators and lead acid batteries,
there is a strong movement by groups such as Safaricom to reduce diesel usage
by integrating wind turbines or solar panels into the systems powering cellular
sites.

Mechanics
A mechanic was removing a cylinder-head from the motor of a Harley motorcycle
when he spotted a well-known cardiologist in his shop...
The cardiologist was there waiting for the service manager to come take a look
at his bike when the mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hey Doc, want
to take a look at this?"
The cardiologist, a bit surprised, walked over to where the mechanic was working
on the motorcycle. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and
asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I open its heart, take the valves
out, repair any damage, and then put them back in, and when I finish, it works
just like new. So how come I make $39,675 a year (a pretty small salary) and
you get the really big bucks ($1,695,759) when you and I are doing basically
the same work?"
The cardiologist paused, smiled and leaned over! , then whispered to the mechanic...
"Try doing it with the engine running."
