EFITA at Linkedln
We started an EFITA group at LinkedIn, the interconnected network of experienced professionals from around the world, representing 170 industries and 200 countries. From our experience, LinkedIn can be a very valuable tool to setup and maintain your network. In contrast with other social networking web 2.0 tools, LinkedIn is used for more serious, professional purposes. We think that a group of EFITA members connected by LInkedIn can be very powerful to strengthen the ties between EFITA members and to mobilize them for certain specific purposes. You are cordially invited to join the group at http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=786957&trk=hb_side_g

PhD course: Fundamentals of Ventilation, Indoor Air Quality, Air Motion and Emissions
>>> Objectives
By going through this course, the students will achieve the fundamental knowledge of ventilation and its relation to indoor air quality, air motion and emission in and from the room air space. The students shall be able to estimate and analysis the indoor thermal climate condition, airflow, air quality and effects on emissions by using the ventilation conditions and system information. Finally, the students shall be able to design and perform the basic research activities including laboratory experiments for measurements, control air motion; measurements and analysis of airflow characteristics and the effects on emission. Concept of the modeling approach for emission estimation and numerical simulation shall be also addressed and introduced in the course.

>>> Modular 1 (2009.04.20-2009.05.02)
1. Fundamental of ventilation and air motion in livestock production units
2. Inlet air momentum, velocity decay and air speed at floor level
3. Non-isothermal inlet air jets and airflow pattern control
4. Computational Fluid Dynamics (Bjarne Bjerg, KU-Life)
5. Scale model experiments and similarity

>>> Modular 2 (2009.06.22-2009.07.04)
6. Emission modeling, estimation and Boundary layer theory
7. Instrumentation, Sensors and Measurements for air motion and emissions (Ander Feilberg)
8. Laboratory experiments on Emission process
9. Status of the arts on ventilation control in practices
10. Particle transport in air (Hisamitsu Takai)

Opportunism…

A young blonde Portsmouth girl, down on her luck, decided to end it all one night by casting herself into the cold, dark waters off Gunwharf Quay.
As she stood on the edge, pondering the infinite, a young sailor noticed her as he strolled by. 'You're not thinking of jumping, are you babe?' he asked.

'Yes, I am.' replied the sobbing girl.
Putting his arm around her, the kind sailor coaxed her back from the edge. 'Look, nothing's worth that. I'll tell you what; I'm sailing off for Australia tomorrow. Why don't you stow away on board and start a new life over there. I'll set you up in one of the lifeboats on the deck, bring you food and water every night and I'll look after you if you look after me if you know what I mean. You just have to keep very quiet so that you won't be found'.

The girl, having no better prospects, agreed, and the sailor sneaked her on board that very night. For the next three weeks the sailor came to her lifeboat every night, bringing food and water, and making love to her until dawn.

Then, during the fourth week, the captain was performing a routine inspection of the ship and its lifeboats. He peeled back the cover to find the startled blonde, and demanded an explanation.
The girl came clean, 'I've stowed away to get to Australia. One of the sailors is helping me out. He set me up in here and brings me food and water every night and he's screwing me.'

The captain stared at her for a moment before he replied:

'He certainly is love. This is the Isle of Wight Ferry.
