HarvestChoice
Jointly led by IFPRI and the University of Minnesota, HarvestChoice aims
to equip decision-makers and analysts with data products that can help guide
strategic agricultural policy and investments in sub-Saharan Africa and South
Asia. Brought together for the first time by a variety of organizations, this
online portal makes available a comprehensive collection of maps and data
on market access, climate, soil, and pest conditions, and numerous other factors.
Users can access this data to gain an in-depth understanding of major challenges
to agricultural production in these regions and to discover site-specific
opportunities where smallholder farmers can boost productivity and market
performance.

XIV International Congress on Animal Hygiene (ISAH–2009)
19 - 23 July 2009 - VECHTA, Germany
Animal hygiene is a unique scientific interdisciplinary field where health
and welfare of both animals and humans are closely intertwined. Hygienic measures
are in service of animal health and welfare of farm and companion animals,
public health, bio-security and environmental protection making optimal use
of resources for a sustainable animal husbandry.
In most areas the world of science has experienced fast developments in recent
years, and animal hygiene is not an exception in that regard. Considering
the urgent need for a more flexible and frequent exchange of scientific and
practical knowledge of professionals in the field of animal hygiene and related
areas, the ISAH 2009 Congress will take place in the town of Vechta situated
in the north-west of the Federal State of Lower Saxony, Germany, which is
one of the most prominent areas of farm animal production in Europe. This
unique location offers the opportunity to organise everyday short field trips
to nearby companies like Big Dutchman and to pig and poultry farms or to one
of the numerous horse breeders where the famous Hanoverian and Oldenburg horses
are bred competing since many years successfully in Olympic show jump competitions.
The ISAH–2009 Congress will focus on novel developments in animal hygiene
of farm and companion animals. In order to cover the majority of different
fields of animal hygiene and related areas, the work of the Congress will
base on nine comprehensive topics. The Congress programme sees topics on farm
and companion animals and a thematic day on horses on Thursday, July 23, 2009.

A WOMAN'S POEM
Before I lay me down to sleep,
I pray for a man, who's not a creep,
One who's handsome, smart and strong.
One who loves to listen long,
One who thinks before he speaks,
One who'll call, not wait for weeks.
I pray he's gainfully employed,
When I spend his cash, won't be annoyed.
Pulls out my chair and opens my door.
Massages my back and begs to do more.
Oh! Send me a man who'll make love to my mind,
Knows what to answer to 'how big is my behind?'
I pray that this man will love me to no end,
And always be my very best friend.
A MANS POEM
I pray for a deaf-mute gymnast nymphomaniac with
huge boobs who owns a bar on a golf course,
and loves to send me fishing and drinking. This
doesn't rhyme and I don't give a s_h_i_t.
