ICT-AGRI Website launch for new European research collaboration within ICT and robotics in agriculture
ICT-AGRI (Information and Communication Technology in Agriculture) is a new European Research Area (ERA-NET) collaboration that aims at strengthening research and to develop a common research agenda in the area of ICT in agriculture.
This collaboration will increase the impact of the national research programmes in information and communication technologies and robotics.
ICT-AGRI is supporting the development and implementation of modern technologies to help building a competitive, sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural sector.
On the website you can find more information about the research network. The website will be an important tool for exchanging information throughout the ICT-AGRI programme and will present news about the project, its progress, calls and results.
Interested researchers, companies, policy makers and other stakeholders can sign up for the ICT-AGRI Newsletter online. Registering to receive the ICT-AGRI Newsletter will ensure that you are updated on the latest project news and receive alerts about research call announcements, events and new publications.
The consortium behind the project comprises 18 partners and 12 observer organisations from 20 countries.
The Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries is coordinating the ICT-AGRI ERA-NET, which started on 1 May 2009 and will run for 51 months.

Vow of silence
A guy joins a monastery and takes a vow of silence: he’s allowed to say two words every seven years. After the first seven years, the elders bring him in and ask for his two words.
“Cold floors,” he says.
They nod and send him away. Seven more years pass. They bring him back in and ask for his two words. He clears his throats and says:
“Bad food.” They nod and send him away. Seven more years pass. They bring him in for his two words. “I quit,” he says.
“That’s not surprising,” the elders say. “You’ve done nothing but complain since you got here.”
