(GFOSS) and Agro-Know Technologies, co-organize from December 14th to
16th, 2012, the first Athens Green Hackathon!
Green Hackathons (www.greenhackathon.com)
are a series of events where hackers and developers meet to create and
apply new ideas, targeting a sustainable and healthier future.
One of the main goals of a Green Hackathon is to showcase the potential
of Open Data and APIs that make access to environmental, agricultural
and biodiversity data easier. The Athens Hackathon will last for 3 days.
On the 14th of December the Green Hackathon will start with
invited presentations of data providers as well as hack brainstorming
with potential users. On the 15th the hacking marathon will
start and take the whole day with small injections of past hacks. On the
16th an open workshop will take place for presenting the best
green hack awards, discussing with a panel of experts, and discussing
about open data and development of green applications.
Participation in Athens Green Hackathon is open to all interested developers
but also to users, institutions, organizations and enterprises that are
interested in capitalizing on the results of the 24-hour Hackathon. Accommodation
and some subsistence expenses will be covered for a small number of participants

EFSA: Séralini et al. study conclusions not supported by data,
says EU risk assessment community
Serious defects in the design and methodology of a paper by Séralini
et al. mean it does not meet acceptable scientific standards
and there is no need to re-examine previous safety evaluations of genetically
modified maize NK603. These are the conclusions of separate and independent
assessments carried out by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and
six EU Member States following publication of the paper in the journal
Food and Chemical Toxicology on 19 September 2012.

The blond teacher
A blonde gets a job as a teacher.
She notices a boy in the field standing alone, while all the other kids
are running around having fun.
She takes pity on him and decides to speak to him.
'You ok?' she says.
'Yes.' he says.
'You can go and play with the other kids you know' she says.
'It's best I stay here.' he says.
'Why?' says the blonde.
The boy says: "Because I'm the f*cking goal keeper".
