The future of Earth observation activities in the wider Balkan area
10 - 21 September - NOVI SAD - Serbia
The workshop in Novi Sad will gather over 100 experts from 6 current FP7 projects, renowned representatives of the European Commission – Joint Research Centre (JRC), the Group on Earth Observations and the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), as well as the representatives of the governments from the region. Coordinators of 6 FP7 projects are inviting all interested parties to join them at the workshop in Novi Sad and contribute to the discussions, the exchange of information and the creation of a common strategy towards the upcoming H2020 programme. The JRC will hold a special session devoted to the prospective partnership between the EUSDR and all EO-related projects in the region. The participants will address potential contributions of current and future projects to the EUSDR, the creation of recommendations for the EO components articulation and the creation of short and mid-term synergies.

Use this unique opportunity to network with key EO players from the region and to meet potential partners from over 25 countries with many years of experience in international projects. Additional information, the programme of the workshop and the registration form are available at the official website of the workshop.

Slow, But Steady Growth Predicted in Precision Farming

What is a grandparent? (Taken from papers written by a class of 8-year-olds ????)

Grandparents are a lady and a man who have no little children of their own. They like other people's.

A grandfather is a man, and a grandmother is a lady!

Grandparents don't have to do anything except be there when we come to see them … They are so old they shouldn't play hard or run. It is good if they drive us to the shops and give us money.

When they take us for walks, they slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars.

They show us and talk to us about the colours of the flowers and also why we shouldn't step on 'cracks.'

They don't say, 'Hurry up.'

Usually grandmothers are fat but not too fat to tie your shoes.

They wear glasses and funny underwear.

They can take their teeth and gums out.

Grandparents don't have to be smart.

They have to answer questions like 'Why isn't God married?' and 'How come dogs chase cats?'

When they read to us, they don't skip. They don't mind if we ask for the same story over again.

Everybody should try to have a grandmother, especially if you don't have television because they are the only grownups who like to spend time with us.

They know we should have a snack time before bed time, and they say prayers with us and kiss us even when we've been naughty.

It's funny when they bend over; you hear gas leaks, and they always blame the dog.
