ICT in Agriculture: Perspectives of Technological Innovation
These free e-Book was written by a long list of experienced professionals,
many from the sponsors: EFITA, The Hebrew University Center for Agricultural
Research and the Samuel
Neamann Institute for National Policy Research.
It was put online for public use in 2006. This first year, it was accessed
38927 times.
See: http://departments.agri.huji.ac.il/economics/gelb-main.html
In 2013 the book was accessed 777960 times - roughly by doubling annually
since 2006. Last year In 2014 the book was accessed 696296 times while
being reviewed 666 times.
As explained during the book’s introduction it was designed for ICT end
users, agents of change and developers of ICT incorporating innovations
- in agriculture. The main purpose was to learn from over time experience
- especially by avoiding past ICT Adoption mistakes.
Judging by the accessing results it appears that we can observe with some
confidence that this joint publication endeavour was and remains useful
worldwide.
Comments, dissemination and use are of course more than welcome.

Leading GPS companies are losing the Chinese agriculture market
BeiDou is a Chinese satellite navigation system built to eliminate
dependence on American satellites. This year, China will select 13 of
the biggest agricultural provinces and work with 130,000 agricultural
machinery cooperatives, to install BeiDou terminals in 6 million pieces
of machinery.

Philippines – Call for biotechnology project for funding

An oldie but… still a goodie (already told in this newsletter!): How
Moses got the 10 commandments
God went to the Arabs and said, 'I have Commandments for you that will make
your lives better.'
The Arabs asked, 'What are Commandments?'
And the Lord said, 'They are rules for living.'
'Can you give us an example?'
'Thou shall not kill.'
'Not kill? We're not interested.'
So He went to the Blacks and said, 'I have Commandments.'
The Blacks wanted an example, and the Lord said, 'Honour thy Father and
Mother.'
'Father? We don't know who our fathers are. We're not interested.'
Then He went to the Mexicans and said, 'I have Commandments.'
The Mexicans also wanted an example, and the Lord said 'Thou shall not steal.'
'Not steal? We're not interested.'
Then He went to the French and said, 'I have Commandments.'
The French too wanted an example and the Lord said, 'Thou shall not commit
adultery.'
'Sacre bleu!!! Not commit adultery? We're not interested.'
Finally, He went to the Jews and said, 'I have Commandments...'
'Commandments?' They said, 'How much are they?'
'They're free.'
'We'll take 10.'
There… I should have upset just about everybody...
