21st Century Watershed Technology Conference And Workshop: Improving quality and quantity in agriculture at the field, watershed and regional scales
3 - 9 December 2016 - QUITO, Ecuador
This is the fifth of a series of highly successful international conferences organized by ASABE and The IKIAM University. Over the last decade there has been a maturing of watershed science with new research findings and modeling approaches. These new solutions have resolved many of the problems that first faced watershed managers in dealing with water quality and quantity issues, but there are also emerging impediments to watershed assessments and achieving water quality goals. This international conference 21st Century Watershed Technology: Improving Water Quality and Environment will look at emerging problems and new solutions to managing watersheds to meet water quality and quantity standards.

How to Crack Down on Social Media Threats
Last week, a prominent feminist writer abandoned social media after a rape and death threat was directed at her 5-year-old daughter. Online violent threats are not uncommon, especially for women and minorities, but when they are reported, police are often not responsive.

Lead poisoning (read in the NYT)
One neglected health issue is lead poisoning, which damages the brain of young children in ways that harm them for life. The average young American has gained about 3 I.Q. points because we took lead out of gasoline (and thus out of the air). But some 850,000 people still die every year from lead exposure worldwide; this essay explains why lead poisoning should be a much higher priority.
