Future
of Farming: Big data and precision agriculture (an interesting event
organised by the think tank saf agri iDées with around 200 participants
- GW)
Britisch Embassy in Paris
Date: October 25th, 2016 - 9:00 am to 3:30 pm
English/French simultaneous interpretation provided
The British
Embassy and the French think tank saf agr’iDées are organising this
event in partnership, with an exclusive international perspective on the
uses of Big data in agriculture. New developments in the sector, with the
help of innovative technological solutions, are supporting a move towards
an increasingly measured form of agriculture, or precision agriculture.
Thus, more and more public and private stakeholders are developing new models
to collect and process agricultural data, which in turn benefit every stage
of the value chain, from producers to consumers. Our panel discussions and
international speakers will highlight several of these initiatives, both
individual and collective, which aim to provide solutions to the current
economic, social and environmental sustainability challenges.
In order to promote
further discussion, a networking business lunch is scheduled with stands
showcasing UK and French companies and start-ups specialising in Big data
and smart agriculture.

Bagpipe
joke
A guy walks into a bar and announces "I have a great new bagpipe
joke!"
The bartender says "Let me stop you right there son.
You see that karate black belt hanging up behind the bar?
That's mine. And I play the pipes.
See that ornery lookin' feller in the Harley t-shirt?
That's my brother - and he plays the pipes.
And that big ugly old guy in the corner with the big scar across his face?
That's my Paw - and he’s a piper.
Now, are you sure you wanna tell that joke in here?"
"Hell, no. Not if I'm gonna hafta explain it three times!"
