Trimble makes move to enhance ag market position
Company will consolidate three software products into a mobile-enabled
suite of tools for farmers, advisers, retailers and processors.
(…)
The system reaches beyond the farmer with new tools for advisers, retailers
and even food processors all with base level, mobile-enabled tools they
can use in a single platform.
The single ag platform will be supported by the Trimble Vantage distribution
network. For farmers this will be a subscription service – using the
'software as a service' model. It will be an annual subscription based
on equipment and connections. Pricing is available on the website, the
Farmer Pro services will be priced at $1,788 per year. Learn more at
agriculture.trimble.com/software.
According to Allen, this data-intensive service is set up so farmers
own their data and control its use. The privacy statement is online.
The company may aggregate data in the future, but only for software
improvement, Allen explained. Trimble has no plans to monetize aggregated
data no or in the future.

A
piper was sick of the band abusing him, and decided to start his own
He walked into a music shop, planning to buy the first instruments he
saw. "Give me the red saxophone and that accordion!" he said.
The assistant replied, "You play the pipes, don't you?"
"That's right.
Why?"
"Well, the fire extinguisher I can sell you - but the radiator stays."
Fishing
under the ice
It's winter and this guy goes fishing. He cuts a hole in the ice and sits
down and waits for a catch. After a little while he hears a voice say:
"There are no fish in here!"
He looks all around him but sees nobody, so goes back to studying his
line. The voice comes again, "There are no fish in here!"
"Is that you God?" says the man.
"No" replies the voice "This is the manager of the ice
rink!"
