Precision Ag Corner for the dissemination of Precision Agriculture
In September 2016, the Research Group on AgroICT & Precision Agriculture (GRAP) of the Universtity of Lleida/Agrotecnio Center started a collaboration with New Ag International for the diffusion of Precision Agriculture.

The collaboration consists of contributing to the Precision Ag Corner editorial of the magazine introducing the basic concepts of Precision Agriculture for everyone to understand them and help in the adoption process of what is accepted to be the future of agriculture. If you get bored this summer you can have a look at the 3 Precision Ag Corners published to date at the web site of the GRAP:

SAGA - Swarm Robotics for Agricultural Applications
Robotics is expected to play a major role in the agricultural/farming domain. Swarm robotics, in particular, is considered extremely relevant for precision farming and large-scale agricultural applications. However, swarm robotics research is still confined into the lab, and no application in the field is currently available. SAGA will demonstrate for the first time the application of swarm robotics principles to the agricultural domain. Specifically, we target a decentralised monitoring/mapping scenario, and implement a use case for the detection and mapping of weeds in a field by a group of small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

National e-agriculture Strategy (by FAO)
Many stakeholders acknowledge the need for a national e-agriculture strategy - a guideline on leveraging the advances in ICT to address some of the challenges faced in agriculture. However, most countries are yet to adopt a strategic approach in making the best use of ICT developments for agriculture.
E-agriculture strategies will help to rationalize resources (financial and human) and address, holistically, ICT opportunities and challenges for the agricultural sector in a more efficient manner. Such strategies will also help to generate new revenue streams and improve the livelihoods of the rural community as well as ensure that the goals of the national agriculture master plan are achieved. The existence of an e-agriculture strategy and its alignment with other government plans will prevent e-agriculture projects and services from being implemented in isolation.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) with their domain knowledge in agriculture and in the use of emerging technologies for food security, agriculture and rural development, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) the lead UN specialized agency on ICTs, together with support from partners, have developed the E-agriculture Strategy Guide. This framework assist countries to develop their national e-agriculture strategy and master plan.

Irish Confession

I went into the confessional box after many years of being away from the Catholic Church.

Inside I found a fully equipped bar with Guinness on tap. On one wall, there was a row of decanters with fine Irish whiskey and Waterford crystal glasses. On the other wall was a dazzling array of the finest cigars and chocolates.

When the priest came in, I said to him, "Father, forgive me, for it's been a very long time since I've been to confession, but I must first admit that the confessional box is much more inviting than it used to be."

He replied, "You moron, you're on my side."
