food value chains -up to the consumer- to become smarter, more efficient,
more circular and more connected. This event will place Horizon 2020 investments
in farm and food digitisation in their broader policy context and showcase

“Eating in the City: Sustainable distrust?”

Globally, questions of confidence and distrust have recently gained particular
urgency: we have witnessed a decline or even collapse of confidence in
politics and the state, the press and media, in institutions in general,
and in big businesses and their brands.
Yet, in food and eating, mistrust is longstanding, even inherent to the
condition of the omnivore. Furthermore, since the 1970s, a series of food
safety crises have exacerbated this primordial mistrust and intensified
it, to the point that it becomes a generalized state of distrust. The
burden of proof is inversed: one should be suspicious in principle, until
there is proof otherwise (…)

Agri-Innovation Summit 2017
The Agri-Innovation Summit 2017 (AIS 2017) took place in Oeiras, Portugal on 11 and 12 October 2017. The event gathered a diversified audience of over 500 people, including farmers, advisers, researchers, NGOs, RDP managing authorities, NRNs, LEADER Local Action Groups (LAGs), rural businesses and start-ups. It aimed to:
- promote cross-fertilisation between multi-actor innovation initiatives
- raise awareness about innovation and digitisation opportunities for agriculture

GlobalSat WorldCom Corp. was established at the beginning of the new millenia (the year 2000) in Taipei, Taiwan and soon after became a major manufacturer of GPS receivers and electronic communications devices globally. Sales to other regions are achieved through regional channel distributors. GlobalSat WorldCom Corp. has been in the ODM business for at least five years, selling to several publicly listed companies.
GlobalSat WorldCom Corp. provides a customization service, which consists of industrial design, electronic designs, system integration and software development, to meet the special project requirements for ODM.

Building a global internet of things network together
The Things Network is building a network for the Internet of Things by creating abundant data connectivity, so applications and businesses can flourish.
The technology we use is called LoRaWAN and it allows for things to talk to the internet without 3G or WiFi. So no WiFi codes and no mobile subscriptions.
It features low battery usage, long range and low bandwidth. Perfect for the internet of things.

Vinduino
We are winegrowers, our solutions are designed with farming requirements in mind. The idea for Vinduino came as we needed reliable soil moisture data for our irrigation decisions during a multi-year drought at our vineyard in Temecula, Southern California.
By monitoring soil moisture and managing irrigation schedule and time, we achieved 25% saving on our water use.
Vinduino uses open source hardware, like Arduino and Raspberry Pi, to make our solutions affordable and scalable. We developed a low-cost soil moisture sensor, and long-range wireless technology to view the sensor information on-line.
Because of this, more sensors can be used to provide a more detailed soil moisture profile.

DataBio, Data Driven Bioeconomy
The main goal of the DataBio project is to show the benefits of Big Data technologies in the raw material production from agriculture, forestry and fishery/aquaculture for the bioeconomy industry to produce food, energy and biomaterials responsibly and sustainably.
DataBio proposes to deploy a state of the art, big data platform on top of the existing partners’ infrastructure and solutions – the Big DATABIO Platform.
The work will be continuous cooperation of experts from end user and technology provider companies, from bioeconomy and technology research institutes, and of other partners.
In the pilots also associated partners and other stakeholders will be actively involved.
The selected pilots and concepts will be transformed into pilot implementations using co-innovative approaches and tools where the bioeconomy sector end users, experts and other stakeholders will give input to the user and sector domain understanding for the requirement specifications for ICT, Big Data and Earth Observation experts and for other solution providers in the consortium.
Based on the preparation and requirement specifications work, the pilots are implemented using and selecting the best suitable market ready or almost market ready Big Data and Earth Observation methods, technologies, tools and services to be integrated to the common Big DATABIO Platform.
During the pilots the close cooperation continues and feedback from the bioeconomy sector user companies will be harnessed in the technical and methodological upgrades for pilot implementations.
Based on the pilot results and the new solutions also new business opportunities are expected.
In addition during the pilots the end users are participating in trainings to learn how to use the solutions and developers also outside the consortium will be active in the Hackathons to design and develop new tools, services and application for the platform.

- Demonstrate increase of productivity in bioeconomy
- Increase of market share of Big Data technology providers in the bioeconomy sector
-More than double the use of Big Data technology in bioeconomy
- Leveraging additional target sector investments by a factor of >5
