Where are the e-tools to modernise the CAP? The European Commission presented last June its proposals about the post-2020 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). See Euractiv Agriculture digitisation not only for controls, stakeholders ‘remind’ the EU Commission The much-awaited digitisation of the EU farming sector has taken centre stage in the last few years. But its ultimate application in the post-2020 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is still unclear. See Euractiv Bayer boss: Digital farming-sustainable production link ‘not yet clear’ to policymakers The connection between digital farming and sustainable production is not yet clear in the minds of many policymakers, Bayer’s Bruno Tremblay told EURACTIV.com in an interview, adding that some farmers look at this kind of innovation as a way to control them. See Euractiv Data ownership questions – and why they’re important Data-intensive software systems often come with lengthy and complex user agreements, many of which do not explicitly state who has usage and ownership rights of the data generated from the farm. Whether producer-owned or not, it’s important for those signing on the dotted line to understand who exactly has rights to their farm data, and how that data could be potentially used See Future Farming Will farmers or ag companies benefit from big data? Farming is on the cusp of a revolution, with large amounts of information being generated. However, who benefits from the data and who owns it? Farmers are also questioning how data can be shared and stored securely. See Future Farming
John Deere adds per-acre profitability to Operations Centre John Deere, together with Granular – an independent agricultural software company under the ownership of Corteva Agriscience – have released a new tool to help farmers view average cost, revenue and profit map layers at the sub-field level. The age of envy: how to be happy when everyone else's life looks perfect Social media has created a world in which everyone seems ecstatic – apart from us. Is there any way for people to curb their resentment? See The Guardian No herbicides & pesticides – no problem: 70 million “new” jobs created to grow our food See globalfarmernetwork.org Drain the EU Swamp, by Guy Verhofstadt It is no surprise that populists who campaign against corrupt elites end up being corrupt elites once in power. At the heart of the populist project is not a genuine desire for reform, but a hunger for power and personal enrichment at the public's expense. See project-syndicate.org
Wing suits, Pilatus aircraft, the Eiger and the Jungfrau (CH) See crazy guys 60th High School Reunion He was a widower and she a widow. They had known each other for a number of years being high school classmates and having attended class reunions in the past without fail. This 60th anniversary of their class, the widower and the widow made a foursome with two other singles. They had a wonderful evening, their spirits high. The widower throwing admiring glances across the table. The widow smiling coyly back at him. Finally, he picked up courage to ask her, "Will you marry me?" After about six seconds of careful consideration, she answered, "Yes,..... yes, I will!" The evening ended on a happy note for the widower. But the next morning he was troubled. Did she say “Yes” or did she say “No?” He couldn't remember. Try as he would, he just could not recall. He went over the conversation of the previous evening, but his mind was blank. He remembered asking the question but for the life of him could not recall her response. With fear and trepidation, he picked up the phone and called her. First, he explained that he couldn't remember as well as he used to. Then, he reviewed the past evening. As he gained a little more courage he then inquired of her. "When I asked if you would marry me, did you say “Yes” or did you say “No”? "Why you silly man, I said ‘Yes. Yes I will.’ And I meant it with all my heart." The widower was delighted. He felt his heart skip a beat. Then she continued. "And I am so glad you called because I couldn't remember who asked me!” The distribution of this efita newsletter is sponsored by vitisphere.com Please, contribute to the content of your efita newsletter, and advertise your events, new publications, new products and new project in this newsletter.
